Christmas in Athens 2025: The Best Place to Feel the Holiday Spirit - The Christmas Factory
Athens isn’t your typical holiday destination. Instead of snow, you’ll find blue skies; instead of freezing temperatures, a mild Mediterranean winter. And that’s exactly why the Greek capital is becoming an increasingly popular spot for winter getaways - especially among those who prefer sunshine and longer days over ski slopes or icy weather. And if you enjoy festive vibes, family-friendly attractions, lights, music, and creative activities, this year’s edition of the DEI Christmas Factory is the perfect way to spend wintertime in Athens.
The event draws both locals and tourists every day. It’s one of the few places in the city where you can truly feel the holiday spirit. As every year, Technopolis in Gazi transforms into a colorful village full of lights, music, and festive energy - proving that the magic of Christmas doesn’t need snow to be enchanting.
A Christmas Village in the Heart of Athens
The moment you step into Technopolis, the holiday atmosphere hits you. The lighting, music, the sound of kids playing, and the smell of seasonal treats create a warm, family-friendly vibe. Animators and elves run workshops and activities for children, keeping the whole place alive and buzzing.
The DEI Christmas Factory is open all day long. With so many themed zones, kids can explore one activity after another, while adults stroll around, sip hot chocolate, enjoy something tasty, or simply relax in the festive surroundings.
“The Snow Queen” Holiday Show
One of this year’s biggest highlights is the theatrical adaptation of “The Snow Queen.” Directed by Konstantinos Tsoumparis, the show is already on stage and receiving great reviews. It blends the classic fairy tale with a modern style-dynamic acting, impressive sets, music, costumes, and video projections.
The eight-member cast takes audiences, young and old, on an emotional winter adventure. The show is recommended for kids aged five and up, but adults will enjoy it just as much. Even better, a ticket to the show includes free entry to the entire Christmas Factory on the same day, making it easy to combine the performance with festive fun.
“Find Your Star” - A Path for the Little Ones
This year’s big hit for kids is the “Find Your Star” themed trail. Within the first week, it became one of the most popular activities. Children follow a set of creative tasks: writing letters to Santa, joining art and music workshops, and watching mini screenings at the Cine Factory.
In the interactive Elf School, kids help recover the “Christmas Star,” while in the Dark Garden - equipped with flashlights—they solve holiday puzzles along hidden paths. At the tradition gallery, they learn about Christmas customs from around the world, and in the creative arts zone they can craft their own decorations. Another favorite is Asteropasta, where kids prepare a holiday cake using “magical” ingredients. Each completed challenge earns them a symbolic star, encouraging them to keep exploring.
Christmas Fun Park
At the center of Technopolis you’ll find the fun park, quickly becoming a family favorite. Carousels, slides, an ice train, bumper cars, an ice rink, and a mirror maze create a playful and lively atmosphere for all ages. After dark, the entire park glows even brighter, attracting visitors who might normally skip amusement parks.
Right next door, a holiday market offers decorations, gifts, sweets, and seasonal food. Hot chocolate, waffles, pizza, burgers, mulled wine, and local treats make it a great place to take a break and soak in the Greek-style Christmas spirit.
